One of the most enduring adventure stories is that of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, this tale has been past do over the centuries and has gone from history to legend more times than can be counted. The amount of times that this story has been portrayed on film is almost as countless, from comedies to musicals to dramas the hold this saga has had on the minds of men and women around the world is staggering. With all the elements that make a story worth retelling are here; adventure, love, betrayal, action and magic the entire journey is filled with these parts and more. The true King of the people will pull the sword Excalibur from its stone and forge a nation of peace and abundance. This film is based on Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte Darthur and takes you from the creation of Excalibur to the quest for the grail and then to the death of King Arthur. All of the acting is very well done, but there are two actors who appear in very early roles for their careers, Liam Neeson and Patrick Stewart. The movie was shot entirely in Ireland and in the different scenes of the countryside you can see why it's called the Emerald Isle. The colors are so vivid and breathtaking that it can't be anything other than the touch of God upon the Earth.
The complete story is more about the sword than about the knights, but that only enhances your experience with this film. The magic and the action that takes place is very well done and drives this epic story that over the years has become common knowledge to so many people around the world. When this film first came out in the theater it was considered more of an art film because of all of the symbolism through out the movie. But it became an audience favorite because it's an enjoyable and stylish film that just doesn't get old.
