Freddy vs. Jason

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the main event for this evening. In this corner we have Freddy Krueger originally from Springwood Illinois who loves the taste of the young souls of children, and in the opposite corner we have Jason Voorhees who's able to live over and over again and resides at Camp Crystal Lake some where in the North-East. From the moment New Line Cinema bought the rights to the Friday the 13th franchise, the public had been waiting for the ultimate match up of Freddy and Jason. It took some time but the end result is a classic film that harkens back to the old black and white monster movies that pitted the creatures of the night against each other.
Having been trapped in Hell Freddy searches out and finds Jason's spirit sleeping and uses him to stir up trouble so that the kids in Springwood would start fear the name of Krueger once again. Throughout the film both characters are used to their full potential, which as each of the individual series failed to do, and once the final battle begins every blow of fist and strike of blade is satisfying for the audience. The original ideas about these two characters being unstoppable evil forces comes back and revitalizes the life that these demons once had.
After such a long wait there weren't high expectations for this film, even though the fans wanted it in the worst way. From the strong story to the special effects, that at times were beyond belief, the audience walks away with the satisfaction of having an enjoyable movie to end both series with. There has been talk and rumors that a sequel is in the works, with the way a story ends I'm not surprised, Let's just hope that it doesn't fall into the same problematic issues that the original two series had.
Another anniversary is in the books and I'm still amazed every day by how many people enjoy these blogs and in some cases have found them useful in deciding to see a particular film or to by pass it completely. I just want to say thank you to the people out there who have repeatedly read my blogs, and I hope that you'll all return for my third year of reviews. I promise if nothing else it will be interesting.
