There aren't very many times that we as an audience get to see the progression, and development, of a company right before our eyes. From the mid 80s audiences have been amazed and delighted by the characters and stories that Pixar has brought to life for the world to see. With life-like animation children and adults have been brought to the edge of reality and beyond, but every step of the way has been enjoyable.
Showcasing the first 13 short films from Pixar, ranging from added features to continuing adventures of characters in the main film. Even though there are only 13 short films here it's a nice retrospect of film making with the use of a computer as the primary tool. The characters are as diverse as the films and stories that their a part of. From aliens to sheep to little girls to tin toys, we're shown 13 different takes on life and how even the smallest of characters can have the biggest parts.
From Luxo, Jr. to Geri's Game to Lifted the audience is taken on a whirlwind tour of the amazing world of Pixar films and introduces us to some little known characters created by this wonderful company. One of the truly amazing things about the majority of these films is that the really poignant stories have no dialog, but still get the message across to the audience. From beginning to end you see the natural progression of the ability of these film makers to bring to life characters that seemed life-like. If you're a fan of Pixar's big films you should definitely check this out, its fun, entertaining and some times you'll laugh so hard your sides will ache, and after that just think about what the next volume is going have in it. I for one can't wait.
