Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins
Truly how far apart are the personalities that we see on television and the real people that we would run into on an every day basis. I think this film is closer to the truth than most of these television people would like us to think, every one of them is holding something back. Between Martin Lawrence and Cedric the Entertainer playing opposite each other is hilarious on its own but once the jokes start flying there's no stopping them.
Television psychologist R.J. Stevens returns home for his parents 50th anniversary, but when his own psychoanalysis doesn't work on himself he resorts to an old fashion family throw down to settle differences. Even with all of the movies under his belt, it seems that Lawrence does his best work when he's part of an ensemble cast and the camera isn't pointed at him all of the time. With film veterans like James Earl Jones, in the role of the father, we see every actor in the cast stepping up their effort to deliver a solid performance. Even though some of the jokes are a little childish, it seems to be a true reflection of what a family reunion would be like, just keep this all in mind the next time your family gets together.
Watching family reunions on the big screen has become so common place that even television has gotten into the act with their own movies and TV series. But the best thing about these stories, and the deep down reason that we like watching them, is that they remind us of our own families and how they act together. With movies like this you see the good and the bad in a family but no matter what their family and through thick and thin they'll be there for you.
