Vlad

Of all the monsters from literature Dracula is by far the most talked, filmed and fantasized about and as time goes on the stories that are told become more and more diluted and fantastic. Once the real history of the man known as Vlad the Impaler is interjected into the fictional life of Dracula, the stories and films have become varied and fantastical. But the biggest problem is, as in this film, the story becomes so far fetched and disconnected from the original tale that the film makers are left with a movie that is slow and mundane.
When four foreign exchange students travel to Romania to discuss their thesis's about the truth behind the 15th century leader Vlad Drakul, one of the students unwittingly unleashes his spirit into the modern world. Even with the descent acting from all involved the cast could not save this movie, the film becomes stale and unwatchable real fast. The effects are also pretty good but the without a strong story everything falls flat and after the first 20 minutes your hoping that it will either get better or be over soon, unfortunately you end up with the latter.
I always try to keep an open mind when I watch low budget films, taking into consideration the small amount of money that the film makers have in order to tell the story, you just have to remember that you can only stretch a dollar so far. But after seeing this film no amount of money was going to help it, the story itself was to flimsy from the start and at no time does it get any better. This is definitely one of those movies that doesn't deserve to be watched, there are tons of other Dracula films out there much more deserving to be seen.
